Donna Wins Athlete of the Year

On Saturday night Donna MacFarlane won the Athletics Tasmania Female Athlete of the Year.  The win was based on Donna’s performances in becoming the Australian Steeplechase Champion in 2007 and being selected in the Australian World Championships Team.  This is the second consecutive year that Donna has won this award.

Donna Second in Inaugural Launceston 10

Donna ran a 1min 26sec PB to finish second in a time of 33min 54sec in the inaugural Launceston 10km Fun Run.  The conditions were cool with heavy fog on the course for the entire race.  The Tasmanian crowd were enthusiastic in supporting Donna over her non-preferred distance.  Anna Thompson of Victoria won the women’s race and Mark Tucker also of Victoria won the mens event.  Donna’s next race will be at the World Championships on the 25th August (which will be fully televised on SBS).

Donna MacFarlane has concluded her European Tour with a win in the 3000m Steeplechase in Lucerne, Switzerland.
