Fourth in Zaragosa

I competed at 9.30pm in unusually wet and cold conditions.  The thunderstorms stopped just before the meet started, but the puddles on the track remained.
My race, the 3000 metres, was used as an experimental elimination race for the European Team Championships.  We were told yesterday, that with five, four and three laps remaining in the race, the last athlete would be shown a red card, and ordered to withdraw immediately.  The aim is to make it more exciting for athletes and spectators.  It was okay for me, but then I wasn’t at the back!
I finished fourth, in 9.02.14, my second fastest time over this distance and a season best.  The winner was Ruth Bosibori from Kenya, who I defeated in Qatar earlier this month, in around 8.57.  My result was adequate but I’m a bit disappointed. It was nice just being able to run though, without having to jump!
